How to Write a Letter of Interest

In this post,we are going to talk about how to write a letter of interest. It's important to note that you probably have seen a job of interest to you either in the newspaper on a website or you have a career service sending you announcements of positions that are in your area.

So lets get started. While writing your letter of interest, within your first paragraph make sure you identify the title of the position for which you are applying and where you saw the advertisement, that's very important. This letter of interest is going to be brief. It's going to point out why you are the perfect fit for the position that you saw advertised, what is it in terms of your experience,in your skill,in your knowledge or in your education that prepares you to be the perfect person. The style of the letter should be block style there should be no indentations.

Remember it should be brief and straight to the point and it accompanies your resume, your name, street, city and state, zip code and telephone number. Make sure if you give a telephone number that the answering machine on that telephone is not some crazy song so be sure it's a answering machine message that is appropriate for a future employer. And then your email account and the date.
Next you would have the address and the name of the person for whom you are writing to. You have to understand that on most advertisements it will say please send resumes or letter of interest to Mr. John at such-and-such address. Sometimes it does not mention anyone specifically do not put to whom it may concern,do not leave it blank. Go to the company on the internet, google it and identify a name of at least someone in personnel, the director of personnel or vice president of Human Resources. In this case I've written my letter of interest to Mr. Dewey the personnel director.  This way you can identify dear Mr. Dewey in your greeting.

Now understand that Mr. Dewey will be sure to get this letter to the appropriate person. Again his name, his title, his street address and the name of the corporation and the city and state and zip. Like I said this is the greeting it is a business letter.
And then the first paragraph is what you're applying for, which position and where you saw it advertised.

In the second paragraph you can mention  that you have enclosed a copy of your resume and transcripts for your review. You should endeavor to put anything that is of interest that says that you're the perfect fit for the job. Look at the qualifications, the job responsibilities in that advertisement  and include any of your either education or your job history what matches.
In the third paragraph, just state that "it  would be my pleasure to be invited for an interview, you may reach me at" and repeat your phone number and your email address and then end it.

Lastly, remember that when you write a letter of interest, you are selling yourself, you're trying to stand out from the crowd to make a recruiter know that you are a perfect match for the job.

Phone Interview Tips

In this article,I'm going to talk about a topic that I've been asked about constantly and that topic is all about phone interviews. So here are four key items that hiring managers, recruiters and HR professionals are looking for in that initial phone screen interview that you need to keep in mind and that you can work on. The first item that interviewers are looking for in a phone screen is your energy and confidence. The thing about phone interviews is that they can't see your face. They can't read your facial expressions. They don't really have an in-person connection with you and so what you have to understand is that the way that you come across over the phone is really important and it comes down to the tone of your voice, the energy in that voice and really how you're answering your questions. So when I say energy and confidence I don't mean try to sound overly happy or excited. What I actually mean is that you should try to come across as pleasan...
